Could you review and compare the Ford Focus? (That BTW includes going to your local Ford dealership and taking a test drive)

Does anyone know how much electrical energy is used in one complete charge? Where I live electricity costs, after the fixed fees, about $0.10 per kilowatt hour. I would like to calculate how much one complete charge will cost.

LOL...

I believe that the hybrid Focus is not yet available. Three are plans to release one and an all electric one next year.

The current focus uses a lot of weight reduction techniques and computer control to increase efficiency in a normal 4 cylinder engine that delivers an impressive 40 mpg hwy.

As it happens, I have driven one. It performs substantially better than one would expect in corners because of a dynamic computer controlled torque control system that changes the speed of the inner tires on a turn causing the outer tires to have more grip.

That is pretty cool.

The all electric focus is projected to have a 100 mile range between refueling.

The Ford Fusion is the main competitor for the Volt from America. It is cheaper in terms of base price, but also less spiffy in terms of raw number green-performance (so far as I have been able to research). It appears though to be a bit more fun to drive. I will be looking at them closely soon.

The battery stores 10 KwH that are in the usable range. It actually holds 16, but only uses 10 to extend battery life.

That means a full charge is $1 where you live.

In comparison, going 35 miles (the range of a full charge) in an SUV will cost you appx $15 and $7-9 for a sedan.

Jerry Reynolds "the Car Pro" LOVED his test drive of the Chevy Volt.
